Antique Primitive Slab Wood Coffee Table With Square Splay Legs

It is the very deep gouges, nicks and scrapes in this thick topped coffee table that fill it with character. Originally it served as a work table or possible in a butcher's shop as reflected in the level of distress. The slight warp to the 2" top, uneven edges and iron strip on one end (to secure old cracks) remind one that this was used for many generations. Once darker corner indicates the remains of an old oil spill, now simply adding to the character of this rustic coffee table. The splay legs were a traditional feature of the era, but at some point in it's long life it was cut down to an ideal coffee table height. The table has been restored and waxed, bringing out the dark patina of the wood. It is strong, stable and ready for use.
