This lovely chest of drawers has multiple elements which combine to create an exceptional piece. The unique serpentine front and claw feet speak to its age and classic styling from the late 1700's. While the hand-painted details came later, they are original and beautifully portray a Danish "country house" landscape setting with tall green trees in the background. The brick red trim along the edges of the dresser compliments the teal blue background while accenting the red tile roofs of the houses portrayed along the 4 drawers and sides of the chest. As you will see in photos of the top and sides, there are some minor age related separation of the planks of heavy oak wood, which are expected in an antique of this age and do not detract from its function nor visual appeal.
