This style of Swedish bench was formerly known as a "maid's bed." This bench was originally designed as a type of "spare bed," as the lower section would pull out to reveal a small mattress inside and was typically kept in the kitchen, next to the table. The seat still lifts up (and off) to reveal storage below, as seen in the photos. The attractive lattice work and carving along the back and curved side arms add to its charm. This Swedish bench has been restored; the warm pine has been kept natural and given a wax finish. Wear is commensurate with age. Seat Height: 18.5"
