An unsigned 18th century Italian, probably Florentine school, oil on canvas painting of two figures embracing while gazing upwards towards the Sacred Heart. The two figures dressed in loose flowing robes stand in front of large trees with the distant countryside just visible through the branches. Another hand holds a single red rose in the lower right of the scene. This is most likely a fragment of a much larger painting that has been relined and mounted in an ornate antique gilt wood and plaster frame. There is paint loss throughout the canvas in the form of 1/8" chips as well as a larger section in the bottom right and next to the rose. Please enlarge and examine the close up photos to understand the age related wear to both the canvas and frame.
