There is something enchanting and unique to antique French armoires, and it stems from the beauty of the aged wood, which grows richer and deeper by the passing of the years. This traditional French provincial armoire was made of walnut sometime in the late 1700's to early 1800's, and has simply grown more beautiful and graceful with age. It has a curved crown molding above a hand-carved medallion surrounded by a variety of long stemmed flowers. Both panelled doors are framed with exceptional deep carved moldings. All the hardware is original including the long brass hinges, the key and key escutcheons which is a hallmark of French styling. Please examine the close up photos to appreciate the rich patina of the wood and the elaborate carvings.
