Monogram of PMS and date "1857" indicate this trunk may have been for a dowry or wedding present.
Traditional hand-painted details include floral motif along top and front. 
Wrought iron straps and side handles, no lock.
Restored and waxed, this heavy trunk is ready to be placed and enjoyed.
Signs of wear typical for age include nicks, scratches, various age related separation of wood along top & front and parts of iron straps, etc. This wear does not impact the strength nor functional integrity of the trunk which is ready for use.
