Pair, Swedish Gustavian Arm Chairs, Together Form Settee or Sofa, circa 1840

This lovely pair of Swedish chairs is a rare find; when placed together, they create a unique sofa or settee. They were likely commissioned as a one of a kind set when they were crafted. The two chairs are designed to fit together with both concave and convex seats, but can also stand alone as a deep chair or lounge.
The white painted finish is lightly distressed, complimenting the delicate vine carving along top while fitting the age and grace of this pair.
The frames are restored, solid and stable. Seat cushions are removeable. The current fabric is in a deconstructed state, with stained muslin, linen, staples, exposed nail heads, etc. and will benefit from modern upholstery and padding.

Convex chair is 41.5" deep
Concave chair is 40"
Seat Height: 18"
Any scratches, cracks, dings, missing piece (see chink in one foot) or age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this special pair of Swedish arm chairs.
