There is a tremendous amount of character packed into this small 18th century dome top oak chest. Take note of the wonderful hand-wrought iron work, the lock and handles that are all original. Boxes reinforced with this type of iron strap were often used as a lock box, or type of personal safe in the 1700's. While there are age related separations of the boards in the top, this does not weaken the structure of the piece and adds to its aged character and visual appeal.
