Occasionally one is fortunate to discover the perfect blending of beauty, craftsmanship and timeless style such as found in this enchanting armoire. It would have been a high-end commisioned piece in the early 1800's involving a professional cabinet maker as well as painter. Notice the beautifully carved scrolled pediment/crown, the canted sides with panelled embellishment and the curves mirrored throughout the armoire from the doors to the panels. Even the interior drawers, used to store small personal items, were given a special touch and inlayed with marquetry. While all these elements combine stylistically, it is the exqusite original paint that draws one's gaze to the soft, gentle colors of the floral embelishments against the gently aged, distressed blue/green background. The two lower drawers function well and were originally used to store additional personal items. Please examine the close up photos to appreciate the excellent craftsmanship and lovely original painted features.
